Different voices are available in the Speech control panel System Preferences. You'll have to capture the sound output from mic robot voice maker Mac to get it into GameSalad -- I believe Audacity can do this free. I was thinking more of a free one online. Some of those allow you to download the result. Others you will need to record using something like audacity.

Thanks for all of those great links! I downloaded audacity but could you or anyone explain how to record the "text to speech" from textedit in audicity? Or from any of those other sites? Just a warning regarding the use of these generated sound files They're only meant for mic robot voice maker or evaluation purposes only and can't be incorporated into your project.

I contacted Acapela Group a while back and they were charging per character or time limit for generated sounds. Since then, they've put up the Acapela Box. You can read their FAQ on usage here: So has anyone used these in their apps. Im working on mic robot voice maker app that does alot of talking so i would definitely like to know if there is anywhere to get the speech generated that is legal to use in an app.

I used one called mic robot voice maker to mp3 a while back for a song just type what you want in a text field and drag it on to the app. It stopped working though but maybe you''l have better luck. Buy a Blue MIC and do your own voice work! Don't know if they reflect well or not, but "Run coward" in sinistar was pretty awesome!

Robotic voice effects became a recurring element in popular music starting in the second half of the twentieth century. Several methods of producing variations on this effect have arisen. The vocoder was originally designed to aid in the transmission of voices over telephony systems. In musical applications the original sounds, either from vocals or from other sources such as instruments, are used and fed into a system of filters and noise generators.

The input is fed through band-pass filters to separate the tonal characteristics which then trigger noise generators. The sounds generated are mixed back with some of the original sound and this gives the effect. Vocoders have been used in an analog form from as early as at Siemens Studio for Electronic Music [1] [2] but were made more famous after Robert Moog developed one of the first solid-state musical vocoders.

In Wendy Carlos and Robert Moog built another musical vocoder, a band device inspired by the vocoder designs of Homer Dudley which was later referred to simply as a vocoder. Carlos and Moog's vocoder was featured in several recordings, including the soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick 's A Clockwork Orange for the vocal part of Beethoven 's "Ninth Symphony" and a piece called "Timesteps".

Other examples include Pink Floyd 's album Animals , where the band put the sound of a barking dog through the device, and the Styx song " Mr. Vocoders have appeared on pop recordings from time to time ever since, most often simply as a special effect rather than a featured aspect of the work. Many experimental electronic artists of the new-age music genre often utilize the vocoder in a more comprehensive manner in specific works, such as Jean Michel Jarre on Zoolook , Mike Oldfield on QE2 and Five Miles Out There are also some artists who have made vocoders an essential part of their music, overall or during an extended phase, such as the German synthpop group Kraftwerk , or the jazz-infused metal band Cynic.

Though the vocoder is by far the best-known, the following other pieces of music technology are often confused with it:. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
